AMAZING ARACHNIDS
LESSON 5: Culminating, Creative Project
OBJECTIVE:
Students will:
- Create an original project about Arachnids, detailing what they have learned in this unit of study.
PROCEDURES:
Students may choose from a variety of creative projects demonstrating their authentic
knowledge of arachnids (below) or create a new idea for a project subject to review by teacher.
Ideas for Culminating Project:
1.
Create a model of a specific arachnid, detailing body parts, set in an authentic habitat. (Materials used could include clay, craft materials, edible food materials, etc.)
2.
Create an original, NEW arachnid that hasn’t been identified by scientists yet, using similar
materials as above. Name the arachnid, describe body parts, etc.
3.
Write an original poem about an Arachnid, detailing its features.
(Refer back to Insectlopedia, as detailed in Power Point Presentation.)
4.
Write a detailed riddle about a specific arachnid and ask a classmate to identify “What is
it?”
5.
Create a skit involving arachnids and present to the class.
6.
Create a field guide about a specific arachnid will illustrations and features.
7.
Write an article for a newspaper with pertinent news about a specific arachnid and how it’s
affecting people’s lives.
8.
Write a review of a book that features arachnids as main characters (such as Charlotte’s
Web.)
9.
Draw a diagram of an interesting arachnid and label body parts.
10.
Create a project of your own design!

Students will share projects with class
and perhaps display for the whole school community to enjoy (in library, for example).
Teacher will grade projects according to
a 4-3-2-1 Project Rubric, found at this site.
