AMAZING ARACHNIDS

                                              

            LESSON 1: INTRODUCTION/ASSESSING PRIOR KNOWLEDGE

 

 

OBJECTIVES:

Students will:

  • Construct K-W-L Chart about Arachnids as a whole class with teacher.
  • View “Amazing Arachnids” Power Point Presentation
  • Add to K-W-L Chart after viewing Power Point Presentation,

Adding new information and what they “Want” to learn next.

 

 

PROCEDURES:

  1. Teacher introduces topic of “Arachnids,” and asks students what they know about the topic, while charting responses on the “K” part of large chart.
  2. Students view Power Point Presentation entitled, “Amazing Arachnids.”
  3. Students, in pairs or small groups, work on charting new knowledge and additional facts they would like to know, in preparation for group brainstorming.

4.   Students meet as a whole class and teacher facilitates as more information is added to the K-W-L Chart.

5.  Teacher notes that this is a fluid, work in progress and that they will revisit the chart, adding information as they discover more about arachnids.
