AMAZING ARACHNIDS

LESSON 4:  AWESOME ARACHNID ADAPTATIONS

OBJECTIVES:

Students will:

  • Research online sources to discover which arachnids have made adaptations to continue to live successfully in a certain environment.
  • Complete Graphic Organizers, detailing research findings.

PROCEDURES:

            1.  Teacher will introduce the meaning of “adaptation,” as it refers to animals that change to live successfully in an environment, while sharing examples from picture books and/or overhead slides.

Examples may include:

  • Arachnids that can camouflage themselves for protection from predators.
  • Arachnids that catch prey in webs.
  • Arachnids that disguise themselves as something else to lure prey.

2. Students will visit the following teacher-selected sites to gather information about adaptations of arachnids.
